How I Eat Tuna

I received a request a few weeks ago from peeech about how I eat my tuna. First off, I’m so sorry I wasn’t able to make a video about this instead. We’ve been out of tuna for a while now, and I didn’t want to keep you waiting. >_<

One thing I should mention is American branded tuna tastes very, very bland compared to Philippine branded tuna. Philippine tuna comes in many different flavors like calamansi, adobo, hot & spicy, etc. We Filipinos love our flavors! (^o^) My favorite brand is Century Tuna, and most of the time I eat it straight out of the can. And… that’s really how I eat my tuna. Open the can, pour it in a little bowl, add a bit of vinegar and pepper, and it’s ready to eat!

My trick doesn’t work with Amercan tuna though. It really does taste bland and weird, so what I do is cook it to make it taste more Filipino. Teehee! It’s a very simple recipe that doesn’t require much work or thinking. Trust me, I’m a terrible cook and I can do this without any mistakes!

All you have to do is pour the tuna along with the oil/water into a pan and fry it. Pour on some vinegar. I don’t have a specific measurement for how much vinegar needs to be poured. I usually go until it fills half the pan. Mix it in and let the tuna soak in the vinegar, and then pour soy sauce (1/4 of a pan). From here, you can just experiment. I like to throw in some pepper and a couple of spices to really add flavor into the tuna. At one point, the oil/water will start to boil. Just keep mixing until the tuna really soaks up all the flavor. It should be ready in a few minutes, and you’re ready to eat!

I really love this recipe. It tastes soooo delicious. Of course, you don’t have to use vinegar and soy sauce. You can always experiment with other things! The main point is letting the tuna soak in some flavor so it doesn’t taste so bland.

And that’s all there is to it! (^_^) Very quick and simple. I’ll try to put up some pictures in the future at least, but I hope this was easy to understand. Again, I’m not a good cook so I don’t know any cooking terms. I mainly go by instinct when it comes to cooking, and most of the time my experiments aren’t half bad. Here’s a few links to more tuna recipes. Happy cooking everyone!
